Lost forced to reshoot scenes
Ah, the crack security teams at airports. You gotta hate 'em. I blogged a couple of months ago about my own woes of going through airport security, but at least the security guard stealing my things didn't cost me upwards of $200,000. The Honolulu Advertiser is reporting that film of Lost that was being transported from Hawaii to L.A. for processing was accidentally put through the X-ray machine -- and therefore deleted -- despite huge warning labels on the canisters telling them not to. Come on, people, these security guards work long, hard hours. You don't expect them to know how to READ on top of everything else, do you? (That same day, a SECOND film canister containing a commercial for the Bank of Hawaii was also X-rayed and destroyed. Awesome.)

The crew was forced to go back and reshoot an entire day's worth of scenes that were lost, which included calling back the cast, redressing the locations, etc. An expert said that with Lost costing between $1.5-2 million per episode for an 8-day shoot, they're probably looking at a cost of at least $200,000 to fix the problem. However, they're reassuring us that it doesn't put the show behind schedule, and everything worked out fine in the end. Except for that inevitable lawsuit. Let's just hope that original film didn't contain some massive dramatic scene that Jorge Garcia just nailed the first time, ensuring his Emmy nomination. We may never know.
