Goodbye, Hillary Widmore

Three people have emailed me this clip this morning... why did I have to miss The Daily Show last night of all nights? This is SO hilarious, I was laughing out loud through the entire thing. Mostly because, as any of my friends will tell you, this is how I talk about EVERYTHING. Whether I'm listening to someone talk about their day or I'm sitting in a traffic jam or I'm eating in a restaurant, I always compare it (usually unfavorably) to my favourite television shows. I LOVE this guy.

You can check out the clip here (it's been taken down from YouTube).

I am just like that... Saturday night I was in a party, and I was talking with some friends and then the comparisions came; the polar bear, Faith vrs. Reason, comparing situations with the explosion in the friegther, the poisonus station, 108, 305, 325... is crazy.
Great post.

Ha! I watched that live with my fiancée and she was whacking me on the arm the whole time, saying "you TOTALLY talk like that all the TIME". Best part for me was when he first said "polar bears" - clearly the audience knows EXACTLY what he is talking about, even before they get deeper into the bit. The bleed over into pop consciousness on this show proceeds on SO many levels that it continues to amaze me.

I'm on record as saying that LOST is a ground-breaking show in television history. (duh - real leap for that one, eh?) It will be interesting to look back years from now and recall how the game changed at this point. Not that other broadcast/cable shows haven't fostered an online community or saturated the pop lexicon to the nth degree but the fact that LOST happened at the nexus of broadcast/cable/HD/PVR/DVD/digital download/blog/ARG/etc. is huge. And, let's not forget the excellent books on the topic that are available wherever finer publications are sold! (yes, I own Nikki's LOST books and so should YOU, if you are reading this).

The river meets the sea. Increasingly, we find that we are all ... LOST.

What a brilliant little comedy routine! Nice to see the Daily Show addressing the important things in life: LOST!
