Glee: Wheels

Two weeks without Glee is TOO LONG. I've missed this show so much, I was thrilled to have it back again. From giving us a new perspective of Sue Sylvester to solving one of the big nitpicks I've had with the show, it was a triumphant return. I was glad there was finally an episode devoted to Artie, who used to actually be part of a boy band (NLT). Here's a pic of him in those younger days.

Highlights:
• Artie telling Tina that his penis still works. Hahaha!
• Sue's comment to the newest Cheerio: "You think this is hard? Try auditioning for Baywatch and being told they're going in another direction, THAT'S hard."
• The revelation that Sue's not actually up to anything, but has a sister with Down's Syndrome. Sue has a heart?! I love it.
• Tina admitting she doesn't actually have a stutter. Thank goodness!! I thought that actress put on the worst stutter in the universe, so I'm glad that's resolved.
• Kurt and his dad. Sweet. So sweet. I knew he was going to blow that high note. (Though for as much as I adore Kurt, I thought Rachel actually was the better singer... you could actually hear the autotuner on his voice.)

Definitely preferred Rachel's version even though Kurt is awesome.

This episode has a very good message behind it, so I really connected with it.

And was it me or was the other blonde cheerleader extra hilarious this week?

@Robert: Did you hear the version on the official soundtrack? It's my favorite - Kurt & Rachel!

Brittany is always hilarious :D But this week she was at her best.

Loved the Kurt and Artie Storylines, as well as getting deeper into Sue's character. But I won't ever get over Artie telling Tina about his penis. I spit my coffee out, cause I was so shocked and amused at the same time ;)

This was sort of a jumping on point for me, and I have to say, I really like this show.

I'd catch bits and pieces the past few weeks, but I didn't sit through a whole episode until last night. I definitely liked it.

Artie's (that's him, right?) delivery of the penis line got a good laugh out of me.

I LOVE Kurt, but based on siging (as per Kurt's own request, haha!) I would have voted for Rachel, blown high F or not. She's got one heck of a voice!

I LOVED seeing Sue's softer side! I used to love Sure because she's hilarious. But now I lover her because she's hilarious, and because she has a heart. So sweet.

May I just also mention that I found it strangely romantic that Puck made pot-cupcakes to get Artie's bus, and then stole the pot-cupcake Artie-bus money to pay for Quinn's medical bills? I know, it's all pretty illegal and whooliganish, but sweet and romantic at the same time! LOVE Puck!

I'm with you Nikki! Really lovin the Glee.

OK, wait. Kevin McHale isn't really in a wheelchair?! Wow. He moves in one like he's been in one for a long time.

@Jenn: I'm head over heels for Puck since his episode with Rachel in which he sung "Sweet Caroline" :D

@Julie: Kevin McHale is actually a really good dancer, I've heard he is in fact the best of the whole cast. Love the ironie that he's the one sitting in a wheel chair.

By the way: In July this year I did an interview with Jayma Mays from Glee (before the show started). If you want to read it, you can check it out here: http://www.myfanbase.de/index.php?mid=2930&pid=7092

As much as I appreciated the spotlight being put on Artie, I also really enjoyed the continuing development of Puck's character. I commented to my wife during the episode that it's amazing how complex and interesting a character he's become in such short period of time when, in the pilot, he was set to be the simple "dumb ass jock" antagonist.

He certainly still is the dumb ass jock from time to time, but just as we've now seen a softer side of Sue, we've also seen he can be so much more.

And speaking of Sue, I almost got a little teary when she was reading to her sister. Yet, at the same time, there was a part of me that, like Will, was braced for the other shoe to drop somehow, despite the raw emotion on display in that scene. Now THAT'S a complex character! :)

Nikki - When she finally admitted her stutter was fake, I was totally thinking of you!

I am very glad Artie told her about his penis. That's very important! And you know that was what she was thinking about.

I am thinking of using Sue sayings as inspirational quotes at the bottom of all my e-mails.

Glee is the best show ever and should never ever take a two week break again. This episode was great and really developed some of the characters.

Artie has an awesome voice. I can't believe he was in a boy band! Thanks for the tidbit. I read somewhere that he auditioned for Finn's role. I was surprised because I didn't think he had the look. But boy, was I wrong.

I LOVED that moment.

I just love the way they are really fleshing out these characters and developing them. I hope we get some good Finn stuff soon, though because that boy is just starting to get on my nerves.

I totally teared up when Sue went to see her sister - did NOT see that one coming.

At first I only kept watching this show because of the music, but now the characters have really gotten to me and I am loving it :D

My favorite Sue line, which I have been trying to work into conversations.....
"Isn't this just lovely and normal?"

I have just caught up with the entire season of Glee and I am completely addicted. Sue is one of the best characters ever!

"Me? Never wanted kids. Don't have the time, don't have the uterus."Gonna have to steal that line for myself, just to see people's mouths hanging open.

And what's fantastic about that line is that in my early days of teaching I worked with a female P.E. teacher who actually used to whole-heartedly recommended having a hysterectomy. If this hadn't been in the North East of England 18 years ago I would have thought she was the inspiration for Sue. (she even looked a bit like her)
